On May 30^th, 2025, the U.S. NRC has approved NuScale Power’s upgraded SMR design, enhancing the capacity to 77 MWe for each power module, for economics while keeping its safety features. This allows its use in U.S. construction and supports global projects like Romania’s 462 MWe RoPower plant.

Romania's pioneering entry into the FEED phase for next-generation SMR technology, coupled with NRC approval, will underscore its ladership in the global energy transition towards clean, secure, and scalable nuclear energy, highlighting the importance of collaboration and innovation in building a sustainable future. 

How would RoPower Nuclear solve other challenges including regulatory hurdles, funding issues, public perception, workforce development, supply chain and etc? What’s the next strategy for the project at Doicești?
